Grants for talented MIPT applicants

In the new academic year, Empathy founder Mikhail Shelkov once again sponsored tuition fees for students at his alma mater.

Thanks to the fundraising campaign, more than 38 talented students started their studies at Fiztech this year.

The competition for admission to Fiztech is legendary. MIPT traditionally attracts winners of subject Olympiads, and the average pass rate has been the highest among Russian universities for several years. More than 35 applicants who did not have enough points to get into the “budget”, but demonstrated high motivation and strong knowledge, were able to enter Fiztech thanks to donations collected by the Center for Alumni Initiatives and Fiztech Union.

Every year MIPT admissions committee faces a situation when after the interview it becomes clear that the applicant is highly motivated and would like to be accepted, but does not have enough points. The grant system comes to the rescue. In total, thanks to the work of Fiztech-Soyuz and MIPT’s Center for Information Technologies and Information Technologies, 10,522,000 rubles (153 000 USD) were raised.

Donations were made by MIPT alumni and partners of Fiztech-Soyuz, including Mikhail Shelkov, founder of the Empathy Foundation.
