Participants who have passed to the final stage get access to the platform “Virtual School of the Tula region”. The full list of participants is presented on the websites of the Ministry of Education of the Tula region and the Charitable Foundation “Empathy” Michael Shelkov.

From July 1 to August 25, teachers need to post their contest materials on the platform. In July, the organizers will hold a webinar in the VKontakte group of the Institute of Professional Development of the Tula Region, where they will answer questions and tell what to pay attention to when submitting materials.

The founder of Empathy, Mikhail Shelkov, has always emphasized that the ultimate goal of the project is to give teachers, educators and other employees of educational institutions the opportunity to invest in themselves and their development. In the two years since the founding of “Teaching as a Calling” 84 best teachers have been awarded, the total prize fund from “Empathy” amounted to more than 18 million rubles, and 800 teachers became participants of the competition.

This year’s statistics shows that almost half (49% of all entries) were educators with up to 10 years of experience and 28% with 11 to 20 years of experience. According to the age criterion, young teachers and educators under 35 years of age (37%) are the leaders in the competition. Compared to last year’s competition, a large number of participants – 19% – decided to test their strength again this year (in 2022 only 8% participated again).

The most popular nominations with the most competition were:

  • Class Teacher / Group Curator
  • Innovations and Traditions
  • Educator working with children with disabilities

Recall that this year Michael Shelkov decided to increase the total prize fund from Empathy from 11 to 14.5 million (140 – 184 000 USD), as well as to introduce new nominations. From 2023, the opportunity to participate in the competition was given to the heads of school museums in the nomination “Innovations and Traditions”. In connection with the Year of Teacher and Mentor in Russia, new sub-nominations “Lead Mentor”, “Senior Mentor” and “Specialist Mentor” were introduced.

The lump sum payment for the winners of three nominations has been increased from 100 to 150 thousand rubles (1500 to 2100 USD) , monthly payments for the other nominations will amount to 20 thousand rubles (290 USD) during the year. At the end of the contest the jury will select 63 winners. The award ceremony will be timed to coincide with Teacher’s Day and will be held in the Oktava cluster.
