Sverdlovsk region prepares future Gifted Girls & Brainy Boys

In the Sverdlovsk Region, tenth-graders are invited to take preparatory courses before the first ever regional stage of the Ural Gifted Girls & Brainy Boys Olympiad. The organizers of the Olympiad in the region are the Ministry of Education and Youth Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region, Mikhail Shelkov's Empathy Charitable Foundation and the Golden Section Foundation for the Support of Talented Children and Youth.

The information course “Gifted Girls & Brainy Boys: On the Way to Knowledge” was created for 10th grade students who aspire to get to the qualifying stage of the Olympiad in Yekaterinburg or who are simply fond of in-depth study of humanities subjects. The developer of the course is the Golden Section Foundation for the Support of Talented Children and Youth.

For the most productive preparation for the Olympiad, the organizers will analyze in detail the topics and tasks of the previous years and will help to prepare for writing the entrance essay in schools. The scope of the course is 16 lessons. Online classes will be available this Friday, November 25. Anyone interested can join the course until the end of January by completing a short registration on the Foundation’s website: https://ereg.zsfond.ru/#/signin.

From February 1, 2023, 10th grade students from all over the region will be able to apply for participation in the qualifying round of the famous All-Russian TV Olympiad. Already on February 18, the first absentee stage in the form of essays will be held in schools. The lists of pupils who have successfully coped with the competitive task will be announced on March 10. These tenth-graders will then be invited to the second in-person final stage in April-May 2023. The finals in Ekaterinburg will be held in a format close to the rules of the All-Russian Television Olympiad: with semifinal and final agons, orders, agonists and theorists. The author and permanent host of the TV Olympiad – Yuri Pavlovich Vyazemsky – will personally evaluate the participants at the in-person round in Yekaterinburg, which will be held in the spring of 2023.

The winners of the Olympiad will be the three participants of the second stage: agonists – the winners of the final agon, as well as theoreticians who have collected the largest number of orders. The champions will take part in the televised humanitarian Olympiad of schoolchildren “Gifted Girls & Brainy Boys” in Moscow without additional tests. The winners of the regional selection will receive 100 thousand rubles each from the Mikhail Shelkov Foundation and will go to Moscow for free shooting. Sverdlovsk residents who enter MGIMO after the Olympiad will receive a special stipend of RUB 50,000 per month (550 USD).
