The Phystech-Alpha Award for freshmen featured a personalized nomination from the founder of Empathy, Mikhail Shelkov.
For the fourth year in a row in September, Phystech-Soyuz invites freshmen in need of a good laptop to write an essay on the topic “My Way to Phystech”. These papers should be personalized, motivated and reflective of the student’s real life, rather than artistic. This year was a record-breaking year in terms of the number of applications – 151 students confided in us, and each told his or her story. The winners were 72 freshmen.
This year, about 3.5 million rubles were collected from more than 50 donors, including Empathy founder Mikhail Shelkov, who submitted a nomination. Donations were accepted through the website, via details, charity auctions and events (Match of the Century 40+, Fiztech-Union Chess Cup) and even through the sale of Fiztech-Union merch.
