The first school “Boiling Point” has opened in Sverdlovsk Region.

The material from A&F-Ural covers the opening of a creative space in Verkhnyaya Salda - the very first "Boiling Point" for school students in the Urals and the fourth in Russia.

The Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) has established “Boiling Points,” creative spaces for teamwork and project work, in various regions of Russia. Currently, there are urban, university, Hi-Tech and entrepreneurial “Boiling Points”.
Since 2020, school “Boiling Points” have also been introduced, including the Svezdya “Boiling Point” in Verkhnyaya Salda, the first one in Sverdlovsk Region.

The project idea was proposed by students during their participation in the Youth Engineering Accelerator, Masterskaya: Salda 2.0 in 2021. Over the course of 9 months, 54 teenagers developed their projects for the improvement of their hometowns. The team consisting of Vladislav Borovikov and Ekaterina Usachyova, became one of the winners of the Masterskaya program. The corporation, along with Mikhail Shelkov’s Empathy Foundation, helped the winners bring their ideas to life. Later, Roman Belov, Ulyana Karelova and Anna Galkina also joined the team.

In May 2022, the school “Boiling Point” project successfully passed the obstacle course of evaluation at the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) in Moscow. The main areas of work identified by the students were eco-urbanism and the creation of an eco-volunteer corps, project activities and the work of the project workshop Forsage, as well as career guidance with a set of activities called Profstart – Smart Career Guidance in collaboration with another project of VSMPO-AVISMA, the Professional-Industrial Cluster Perspektiva.

The opening of this creative space in the city will complement the existing infrastructure with a new place for teamwork and the exchange of experience between young people and professionals. Such interaction will facilitate the creation of new ideas and the development of models for socio-economic development of the region.

The opening of the school “Boiling Point” in Verkhnyaya Salda was attended by representatives from the ASI ecosystem, the Circle Movement, the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, the administration of the Verkhnyaya Salda Urban District, friendly “Boiling Points” from across Sverdlovsk Region, as well as from Novosibirsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Julia Manaenkova, an expert from Mikhail Shelkov’s Empathy Foundation and vice rector of the Higher Technical School, stated:

Just a couple of months ago, we attended the opening of the Perspektiva PIC, an educational space aimed at providing high-quality professional guidance to the teenagers of Salda, filled with state-of-the-art equipment and educational methodologies. ‘Boiling Point’ is also a new space, but it is not only for young people. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it was proposed and designed by the students themselves. Of course, the work will be done with the assistance of adults, but with an understanding of the students’ own responsibility. This is the key idea that is embedded in the Masterskaya: Salda 2.0 Accelerator project, the work with the school ‘Boiling Point’ team, and other projects initiated by the Empathy Foundation with the support of VSMPO-AVISMA, in partnership with the Higher Technical School, both in Verkhnyaya Salda and in Tula.
